Both highlight her research into the emergence of student loan debt in the United States. The first article, \u201cThe origins of the student loan industry in the United States: Richard Cornuelle, United Student Aid Funds, and the creation of the Guaranteed Student Loan Program\u201d appeared in <em>The Journal of American History<\/em>. Professor Hopkins discusses elements of this piece in a guest feature in the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oah.org\/captivate-podcast\/britain-hopkinsthe-origins-of-the-student-loan-industry-in-the-united-states\/\"> Journal of American History podcast<\/a><\/strong>. The second article, \u201c\u2018They can never take it away from you:\u2019 The optimistic cruelty of student loan indebtedness\u201d, appeared in <em>Cultural Politics<\/em> and contextualizes contemporary debates over student loan debt cancellation within the broader history of student loans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4603 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/amer.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Dan-profile-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"188\" \/>In &#8220;Culture Wars, Nationalism, and the Politics of History,&#8221; published in the summer 2024 issue of\u00a0<em>New Politics<\/em>, Professor\u00a0Johnson examines the contemporary culture wars in history in the United States.\u00a0He argues against nationalist interpretations of the past in favor of a revival of methods of social history popularized in the 1960s. In October 2024, Professor Johnson&#8217;s \u201c\u2018So great is the hurry in the spirit of this world\u2019: Transcending Time with John Woolman\u201d appeared in <em>The <\/em><em>Journal for Early Modern Cultural Studies\u00a0<\/em>(22.4).
