Professor Kara McCormack’s essay, “Searching for Wyatt Earp in Anatolia: The American West in the Turkish Imagination,”<\/a> was recently published in the Autumn issue of the Journal of Arizona History,\u00a0<\/em>“Imagining Arizona,” for which she also served as guest editor. Through an analysis of conversations with westerns-loving Turks, the Turkish comedy western Yah\u015f<\/strong>i Bat\u0131<\/em>, and the western-themed tourist attraction Erkansas City, this article examines how the West as a global mythic site has been transformed and recontextualized into a local expression of Turkish national identity<\/p>\n In addition, her essay, \u201cHome. Family. Future: Authenticity, the Frontier Myth, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes<\/a>,\u201d was published in ContactZone: the journal of the Italian Association for the Study of Science Fiction and the Fantastic<\/em>, this past spring. This essay explores the ways Dawn of the Planet of the Apes\u00a0<\/em>utilizes the meanings of the American frontier and the myth of the wilderness to get at questions of authenticity and renewal, linking the heroic Cesar to the stories that have circulated about American frontiersman Daniel Boone for centuries.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Professor Daniel Johnson\u2019s new book,\u00a0Making the Early Modern Metropolis: Culture and Power in Pre-Revolutionary Philadelphia<\/em><\/a>, is now available from the University of Virginia Press. According to historian Billy Smith, \u201cBy situating Philadelphia firmly within the context of the broader urban Atlantic World, Daniel P.
